Still Life in Style

This midterm assignment involved the deconstruction of an artist's painting style and the application of color palette, brush marks and method of painting on a photographic reference.
Below you will find the talented work of my students who were all given a choice of reference images to use and then given the freedom to stylize their still life towards whomever artist they were interested in.
The assignment required them to create a reference board (on the left) where they could note the colors, brush marks, textures, or any other element of an artists work that they would incorporate into their own piece.
This work is from the 2020 spring semester at Laguna College of Art & Design.

I like that you talked about pieces that we made from the choice of reference images that the artists wanted. I hope that I can find those made by blue ribbon oil artists here in Loveland, Colorado to decorate my house with them. Once I get some nice pieces, I will get them framed beautiful and have them hanged around the house.
