LET'S MAKE SOME HISTORY...
OC Art Studios has created an opportunity for those who wish to support a more diverse creator base. By sponsoring a Black student, you are giving them an opportunity to join the OC Art Studio's Open Weekly Studio Sessions. They'll also gain access to the online library of courses we offer and learn alongside other art students in the animation and illustration industry.
With your support of $50, you'll grant an aspiring and hopeful Black artist the opportunity to receive a month of professional guidance and direction towards their chosen creative path. They'll also have an opportunity to ask questions and get professional guidance or portfolio feedback during a 30-minute one-on-one zoom call.
This last year we've seen a lot of forward movement in the telling of joyful black stories in publishing, and there have been incredible communities created to support black creators in the animation industry as well. I'm doing the work in my little corner of the world to raise the tide for artists who look like me and want to improve their skillset so they can more successively tell their own stories, whether it's in the animation field or in the publishing industry.
We are currently asking for donors to support our efforts.
Because of the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to award scholarships to over
600 Black art scholars since June 2020.
Help us continue the effort by providing funds for our students to attend our monthly art coaching mentorship program.
With your continued support, we can offer higher education to Black artists who have lacked the financial means or the opportunity to learn from a supportive environment that we provide. These mentorships provide access to opportunities that these students may not have had access to before. The work of equity and inclusion is actively happening here at OC Art Studios, and we couldn't do it without your help.

I received a scholarship for the last round of courses, and the difference in my art at the beginning of the course versus the end is jaw-dropping. I feel empowered as a creative, and like my craft has been elevated.
I am no longer fearing backgrounds or perspective or questioning if I am able to capture an emotion in a scene, or if I will be able to effectively communicate through the medium; I recall the skills from the previous lessons and build a plan for how to tackle each problem. The combination of confidence and guidance from the teachers connects so many concepts that would be financially out of reach for me, and other students, in any other capacity.
The courses offered at OC Studios are among the most accessible and effective that I have ever seen as a disabled black artist, and I am both excited to improve and willing to put the work in.
