AN online course focusing on pictorial storytelling for illustration and comics
In this online course, students will learn the fundamentals of connecting illustrations and a narrative of their choice in a variety of different methods.
Learn techniques for creating engaging and appealing compositions.
Students will build a visual narrative, growing from a simple 9 panel grid to several pages of full color comic art.
Students will explore methods of engaging the audience in story art layouts.
This 12 week course is taught by Caleb Cleveland
and assisted by Eden Barber.
Caleb is the former Assistant Chair of the Illustration Entertainment Design department at Laguna College of Art + Design.
A freelance artist based in San Diego, his career began in theatre designing sets and costumes but has since taken him to many other aspects of commercial art, including illustration, furniture design, comics, and concept art for video games.
His clients include Wizards of the Coast, Steve Jackson Games, Chaosium Inc.,
The Jim Henson Company, and BOOM! Studios.
He is also the co-creator of the illustrated picture books
THE ABC'S OF D&D and THE 123'S OF D&D.
He is "art dad" to dozens of promising illustration students, many of whom are working successfully in their chosen industry.
